It's hot, and we don't have AC, and of course that's not good for sleep, which has made me think of another poem about sleeplessness, again in the form of prayer--written in winter but still valid.
Wonderful poem. I appreciate your mastery of blank verse, highly varied and precise within its liberal rules. There is a bit of a paradox in praying for sleep, or using prayer forms to fall asleep--it is my questionable practice as well--a bit like summoning a spirit with the proviso that you plan to be asleep if it comes. "Could ye not watch with me one hour?" Yes, but three hours? A yoga-inspired body scan might serve. Thanks for posting this.
